Best Wooden Blocks

With my daughter, we had these cute regular size (about 1 1/2 inch) colorful wooden blocks that she enjoyed. But, when my son got old enough to play with blocks, he quickly outgrew them. I could see that he found them too small and too few for his “projects”. So, I searched online to find a set of blocks that were bigger and had more in the set. I found and purchased the Melissa & Doug 60 piece standard unit blocks.

If it came down to selecting just one toy for my kids, it’d be these blocks. My kids use them to make trains, houses, towers, castles, and even use them as pretend food to play in their play kitchen and in all other imaginative ways.

They are made of natural color, sturdy high quality wood. The edges are rounded and and the best part is that it comes in a wooden box that you use to store the blocks in. With the blocks in the box, it’s too heavy for the kids to carry around, so the box pretty much stays in one location and the kids take the blocks out as needed. At the end of the day, the blocks are put back into the box. There are various sizes and shapes and it seems like the perfect mix of shapes to allow the kids to build a variety of projects.

I’ve been tempted at times to get another set of these blocks, since I know they love them so much. The more the merrier, right? I don’t because it’s working out so well with what they have. But, if you are looking for a great set of wooden blocks – this one is for sure one to consider.
