Homeschooling

Here you’ll get a glimpse at our homeschooling life. We’re a homeschooling family of three (going on four) and our kids have never been to traditional school. The best thing about homeschooling is being able to customize learning for each individual child’s needs. As a result our children are social beings that love learning and learn every day in ways that are fun, educational and inspiring.

September 15, 2011

There are so many different ways to homeschool – from which curriculum to use (if any), to which extra classes to send the kids to, to doing unschooling all together and more.  However as a homeschooling mother to me homeschooling means that my kids learn through home and nature most of the time and then [...]

Children Art Play – Simply done.

July 25, 2011

Art runs in my husband’s family. His grandfather was an artist, his father is as well and now so is my daughter. She expresses herself in art, she sees everything with an artistic eye. While I use a camera to capture a moment, my daughter uses art, asking for a piece of paper and pencil [...]

A day of good eating

July 15, 2011

Our day today started off like every other Thursday – the local farmer’s market. We’re lucky in Southern California because we can go to the farmer’s market all year around, but summer time is especially nice as there are some of our favorites in season. Juicy strawberries, delicious nectarines and the sweetest corn. For my [...]

Homeschooling: What happens to plastic garbage in dirt?

April 1, 2011

My kids are obsessed with recycling. They’ll often go around saying “reduce, reuse, recycle!” and have been known to go through our garbage to find something they can reuse. Today I took Lora to her new ballet school for a class and met two homeschooling mothers in the area. One homeschools with Christian curriculum and the other mother uses a curriculum that provides everything she needs for teaching her children. Though we each homeschool differently, we each had in common what sometimes feels like [...]

Working and Homeschooling

October 17, 2010

Working 36 hours a week at my store, Granola Babies, and homeschooling a preschooler and a kindergartner has definitely been challenging. And I’ll be honest that there have been days when I think about how easy it’d be to just fix them a lunch to take to school, go into work at the store and [...]

February 5, 2010

I have these really cute reusable grocery bags from Blue Q, but it has happened more than once where I find myself without them at the grocery store and end up using paper bags instead. And then when I am done putting away my groceries, I find myself with more paper bags than one can [...]
