Honey Fruit-Flavored Lip Balm makes a fun project with the kids

Organic Body Care Recipes by Stephanie Tourles is one of my favorite books for making your own bath and body products. There’s something so pure and unique about making your own products and this lip balm is one you can include the kids in the making process. They’ll enjoy having their own lip balm too that they made themselves.

Honey Fruit-Flavored Lip Balm

7-8 teaspoons of jojoba or almond oil

2 teaspoons beeswax

1 teaspoon of raw honey

10 drops of essential oils lemon, orange, lime or tangerine

In a small saucepan over low heat or using a double boiler, warm the oil, beeswax and honey until the was is melted. Remove from heat and then add the essential oils and stir until all mixed in. Now, set the pan in a shallow ice water bath (cake pans are great for this) and with a spoon or whisk, stir fast for a minute until the honey is completely incorporated and the mixture loos like thick frosting. Spoon the mixture to your storage containers (we like using metal tins) and let it set for 2 hours.

Enjoy your new lip balm! Also makes good gifts for friends and family.
